Adding a Website
Learn how to add your own website and competitor websites for automated tracking
Adding a Website
Competitor Watch supports two types of websites:
- Your own website — Used as the reference for competitive analysis and AI personalization
- Competitor websites — Sites you want to monitor for changes
Each has a dedicated setup flow.
Adding Your Own Website
Your own website is the baseline for all competitive analysis. The AI uses it to understand your business and give personalized recommendations.
- Go to Profile in your dashboard
- Click Add Your Website (or Set Up Your Profile if you haven't added one yet)
- Enter your company name and website URL
- Optionally add industry, tagline, positioning, and target audience
- Click Start Tracking
Your website will be analyzed automatically. Pricing, features, and messaging are extracted to build your business profile. This profile is used as the reference when comparing against competitors.
Adding Competitor Websites
To monitor a competitor website:
- Go to your dashboard
- Click Add Site or navigate to Sites → New Site
- Choose how to add:
- Add a specific website — Enter URL and configure tracking
- Find nearby competitors — Enter your address and business category (Premium)
- Enter the website URL and a friendly name
- Select an industry template or describe what you want to track
- Click Add Site
Tracking Goals (Competitors)
Your tracking goal helps our AI understand what to monitor. Be specific:
- ✅ Good: "Track pricing changes on the pricing page"
- ✅ Good: "Monitor new feature announcements on the blog"
- ❌ Less helpful: "Track changes"
What Happens Next?
After adding a site:
- Our AI analyzes the website structure
- Monitoring is configured based on your tracking goal (or automatically for your own site)
- The first snapshot is captured
- You'll receive notifications when changes are detected (competitors only)
Managing Sites
You can view all your tracked competitor sites in the Sites section of your dashboard. Your own website is managed from Profile. From there you can:
- View site details
- Pause or resume monitoring
- Update tracking goals
- View detected changes
